The Beijing Transport Institute (formerly known as "Beijing Transport Research Center") was established in January 2002 through the approval of the Beijing municipal government and municipal government. Its purpose is to concentrate research efforts in the city and integrate intellectual resources in all aspects so as to systematically study traffic problems.
The main responsibilities of BTI is to carry out studies on the strategies, policies and plans for the development of urban transport in Beijing, to follow up on the hot spots and bottlenecks of urban transport, to organize and coordinate the research work on transport research institutes, and to submit the implementation plan to the government through comprehensive research. Collecting and disseminating information on urban traffic and compiling an annual report on the development of urban traffic, providing evidences for the municipal government on major issues of urban traffic development.
The BTI passed the ISO 9001 certification in 2006, with its strong technical strength and modern management.
